LCD Touch Screen Assembly for Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 Cheap
Best Review: LCD Touch Screen Assembly for Verizon CDMA iPhone 4 - I will agree with the previous poster that this screen seems to be getting bad reviews for no real reason.. probably due to people having broken phones who blame it on the replacement screen.HOWEVER.. realize that this is a fairly generic listing and that several sellers are selling this product. Some people may be receiving different products entirely, so please list your seller in your review! I purchased mine from MyStore365, and this was my experience:This screen is a true retina display. I am a videophile and the LCD driving this screen is great. Compared to my iPhone 4S, my repaired iPhone 4 had no discernable difference in terms of screen quality, and I'm very picky. It looked every bit as good as the Apple OEM screen, colors, backlight and all. However, I am very disappointed to find out this glass does NOT have oleophobic coating on it what-so-ever as Apple's screen does. This thing is an absolute fingerprint (and dust) MAGNET. I would plan on buying a screen protector with oleophobic coating, or something like the Spigen GLAS.T real glass covering to go along with this. I'm serious. Even after wiping down with a microfiber cloth, it's next to impossible to get this thing completely clean. It's almost sticky. I compared side-by-side with Apple's screen and even with "dirty" hands, Apple's is very resistant to fingerprints. Even a hard press is barely discernable. On the replacement screen, even with a light press, my full set of prints are clearly visible. CSI would have a hay-day.The only other problem I'd mention (which may be a big deal for some) is that the light sensors which adjust screen brightness automatically are CLEARLY visible with this screen/bezel. Apple does a pretty good job of concealing them and you'd normally not even know the light detector was there. Not so with this screen.. they're right there in your face and it kind of takes away from the slick style of the phone. Tisk tisk..INSTALLATION TIPS AND THINGS TO KNOW:- There are about 30-40 screws you will be removing, and you will dismantle practically the entire phone. Unless you're used to the insides of mobile gadgets and microscopic screws like I am and have steady hands, good lighting, decent tools and a very big and clean space to work, you might think twice about tackling this yourself. It's not impossible, but might take you a very long time. Took me, an experienced technician, about 2 hours give or take. Plan on it taking at least this long.- Most all the tools you will need ARE included with a couple exceptions. Tools may or may not be magnetic and the pentalobe driver included with mine was the incorrect size. I saw someone else mention this too. Luckily I already had the correct one from a previous repair. You will also need a small (eyeglass repair size) flathead screwdriver to complete this repair. This is NOT INCLUDED, for whatever reason.- Get ready to keep lots of tiny things organized. My favorite way to do this is take pictures of any very tiny pieces you remove (there are around 5) so you know their original locations and orientations. Place all your screws on a white sheet of printer paper and label what they all belonged to, and even draw out the shape of the pieces they were screwed into. May seem silly but it will help you reassemble SOO much faster.- On the subject of tiny pieces, BE CAREFUL when removing the speaker/mic section! There is a very tiny plastic triangle that will come flying off and across the room if you don't remove it first. It's on the left size directly under the screw you remove. Grab it with tweezers before pulling out the speaker assembly. If you lose this you won't be able to secure the left side of the speaker assembly properly when you reassemble!- As others mentioned, the mesh for the ear speaker is not present on the replacement bezel. Remember to pull this off the old one before putting the new screen on. It's very easy to transfer the mesh. Others that said it's hard to remove are.. dumb.- For those with broken glass, make sure to clear ALL of it from inside the phone once you remove the old screen. This can be a pain depending on how bad the break is, and the old screen will likely come off in pieces. Take your time and remove every last shard. Apple designs things very precisely and even a tiny sliver of glass under your new screen may cause a gap between your new screen and the phone's frame. DO NOT remove the old adhesive that was holding the screen on. Replacements aren't provided and frankly it's not necessary to replace the adhesive. Just remove all the glass and re-use the glue.- There is a clear plastic film on the back of the new screen that should probably be removed. It's hard to notice it's even there. The new screen's back should have a pristine mirror finish just like the old one. Remove this piece of plastic film before feeding the cables through the frame.- When placing the new screen in and sliding the screen's cables through the frame.. BE SURE to get the entire cables through the frame. IS IS VERY EASY to leave part of the cables on the wrong side of the frame and have them fold over without noticing. You may damage the cables and ruin the entire project if you start screwing the screen on without the cables being all the way through.. I almost did this myself. If the screen cable with the left-curvy connector isn't slightly longer than the one with the big metal box attached to it, part of it is caught! Pull it all the way through before screwing the screen in.OTHER NOTES:- An unrelated full-phone sized sheet of adhesive was supplied in my kit with no real instruction on what it's for. From it's shape I can only assume it's for adhering the new screen to the metal frame of the iphone.. but there was no original adhesive in this location, it's almost impossible to apply correctly, and IMO would make the screen actually look worse even if you did manage to apply it right. I left it out and saw no difference from a factory installation. Feel free to omit it from the install. I suppose you could cut it up and use it in various places if you end up having a gap or something. I had no problems. That said, for the price I can't complain. 4 stars for not being oleophobic and having glaringly obvious light sensors.. other than that.. screen quality's better than expected. Also, MyStore365 shipped 2 days ahead of schedule! Impressive!
