It serves as a gooseneck mount that plugs into a 12V "lighter" socket, can charge a phone, can serve as both a Bluetooth speakerphone and a Bluetooth audio streamer, sending the sound to your FM radio. The rubber-padded mount grips a phone well, but it opens only to 2-5/8" - some phones may be too wide for that. For phones that don't support Bluetooth, a line input can send audio from any device with a 1/8" audio jack and it also has a line output if you wish to use that instead of the FM transmitter - a suitable cable is provided.The part that plugs into the power outlet has a knob you turn to tighten it into the socket, and a power button on the end. The phone-end of the mount has four illuminated buttons that serve for phone answer/hangup, redial and reject. It can even activate your phone's voice dialing feature - I tried this with Siri on the iPhone 4S and it worked - but it requires two long presses of one of the buttons and this is quite awkward.While playing music you have Pause/Play, next and previous song. A volume control knob is on the side.I found that all of the functions worked well, but the volume level for the speakerphone function was not as high as I'd like (I turned it up to maximum - I could raise the volume on my radio but that would make the radio too loud) You can manually select the FM frequency or have it search for one, but it steps the frequency in increments of .1MHz which, at least in the US, is annoying as our stations are spaced .2MHz apart.The charging feature works well and cables for both Apple 30-pin and MicroUSB were provided (though the manual says they're not.) There is an odd "USB function" switch on the back (requires sliding off the gooseneck part to get at). The manual tells you about one position - for USB charging - but says nothing about what the other position does. I sent an inquiry into Incredisonic tech support, through their web site, asking about it - two weeks later I have had no response.The distributor sent this to me and asked me to review it. I liked it overall, but wish that the grip opened a bit wider, that the speakerphone volume was louder, and that the purpose of the mystery switch was explained.
