Best Review: Rand McNally TND 720 IntelliRoute Truck GPS with Lifetime Maps - The new tnd 720 is not really an improvement on the 710, its just different. I used a 710 for a year and a half when the power failed, it charged intermitantly for a while so I replaced the cord. Not long after it stopped charging period. Rand support acknowled it was a common problem and could not fix it if it was out of the one year warranty. They said they corrected the problem in the 720 with a new rugged connector in the back instead of in the side. They also said the 720 had a rubber shell. So I forked over another 400 bucks to find out that the cord is the same and plugs in to a different place and the rubber shell is actually soft plastic that scratches easily and offers no bounce protection. The software is slower and makes more mistakes than before. It failed to recognize routes that the 710 sent me on and would route 30 miles out of the way even with adjustments to the route specs. Updates failed to fix anything so it went back to amazon and an unanswered email went to rand about the problems. I have used a garmin 465 that behaved the same way so I wounder if they changed the software to be more like garmin's. I have also used a tom tom and a pc miler that were not very good either. I will probably get another 710 and and do something to try to protect the power cord from disturbance to see if it lasts longer. Note to Amazon, rand is offering free lifetime maps to 10-31-2012 on other sites.
