Best Review: Intel Next Unit of Computing Kit with Dual HDMI, Gigabit LAN, Core i3-3217U DC3217IYE - Pros: Tiny. Extremely quiet (like almost inaudible with your ear right up against it). Draws between 6 - 12 watts normally while running, almost nothing when in standby. Very sturdy case, made with engineering grade plastic (think high end DSLR plastic) backed by steel - case has zero flex. Easy to assemble. Mount for back of monitors with open vesa mount, very secure/sturdy mount. Cool graphical BIOS.Cons: Software installation more complicated due to lack of optical drive (obviously) and lack of native Win7 ethernet drivers. Would be nice if they included Centrino Wireless N-Bluetooth module in Kit. Mickey mouse power cable (only $2.99 online) not included. Hdmi output needs adapter for DVI monitors. Needs usb audio dongle ($7) for non HDMI use.I assembled mine in about 10 minutes with 8G (2x4) of Mushkin DDR3 Ram and a 120G Mushkin Msata Drive and the 6235 Centrino module (about $30) for Bluetooth and Wireless-N with zero issues. To install Win7 from a USB key I needed to create an .iso of the Win7 install DVD and then create a bootable USB key using a utility Microsoft supplies on their website.At a minimum have the intel chipset drivers and ethernet drivers downloaded on your usb key and install them first, then you can use the tool on intel's support site to auto detect the rest of the missing drivers. If you try using the auto detect tool on intel's website prior to having the chipset drivers installed it will crash or hang due to how the probe works.Note Windows will try to make the bluetooth work out of the box with Win-7 intall but you need the intel bluetooth driver installed for it to actually work.I replaced my kids clunky 4 year old desktop PC with this by mounting it to the vesa mount of an old acer monitor. It only had DVI so I needed a cheap adapter($7) for hdmi->dvi and usb sound ($7). The old pc was a Core2 8500 (3.2Ghz) with 8 GB and this runs circles around it due to the flash drive. I'm using a bluetooth mouse/keyboard and it's a great all-in-one PC now! I can see them having HDMI due to small adapter size and compatibility with TVs but I do with they would break the audio out, little usb sound key sticking out is not clean. On a hdmi monitor/tv you'll have no prob since audio is carried over the hdmi of course.
